Summary

Every year for more than 25 years, the L’Oréal-UNESCO For Women in Science international award has honored five women scientists from five regions of the world.

Since 2019, 10.7 has been working with the L’Oréal Foundation to create portraits of these exceptional women across the globe.

Prof. Agnès Binagwaho – University of Global Health, Rwanda

Recognized for her pivotal role in expanding access to public healthcare for the most vulnerable communities in Rwanda, Africa, and beyond, helping to reduce the impact of disease and improve their lives.

Prof. Maria Guadalupe Guzman – Pedro Kouri Institute of Tropical Medicine, Cuba.

Recognized for her pioneering work in the fight against devastating infections caused by the dengue virus, one of the world’s most serious diseases in terms of human morbidity and mortality, with 390 million cases each year.

Prof. Angela Nieto San Juan Neuroscience Institute, Spain.

Recognized for her fundamental discoveries on embryonic development, which have led to a better understanding of how cancer spreads to other organs and forms metastases, the secondary tumors that cause more than 90% of cancer-related deaths.
